Why Fatigue Deserves Its Own Plan
A well-trained gladiator can still enter the arena at a serious disadvantage if you never let them rest. This Dominus Gladiatus fatigue guide explains when fatigue affects arena health and how to schedule recovery before it becomes an injury problem. The goal is to arrive ready for the next match, not to fill every available day with training.
Training and fighting increase fatigue. In Gohjoe's recorded demo player experience, the tutorial identifies three or more fatigue as the point where gladiators enter with reduced arena health. Inspect the fighter's condition instead of judging readiness only from their normal health statistic.
Separate the Health Penalty From Injury Risk
Reduced starting health and injury risk are related consequences, but they are not the same thing. The official Dominus Gladiatus patch history gives the following fatigue-based arena injury thresholds in its August 30 update:
| Fatigue | Arena injury chance in that update |
|---|---|
| 3 | 25% |
| 4 | 50% |
| 5 | 100% |
The same update states that arena injuries are revealed after gladiators return to the Ludus. Review the post-fight condition even after a victory rather than assuming that winning prevented every consequence.
These fatigue-based thresholds supersede the earlier August 19 rule that assigned a simple injury chance to winning or losing. Do not combine the two systems into a made-up calculation.
Harden is a specific exception: the developer describes that talent as protection from fatigue-based arena injuries. It does not establish immunity to every possible injury, nor does it mean you should ignore fatigue's health penalty.
Recover Through Actions or Gladiator Quarters
For ordinary recovery, use the gladiator's Actions menu to rest from training. Recorded demo player experience shows players stopping training before the next fight so the fatigue level can come down.
Quarters are a separate recovery facility that helps gladiators recover fatigue faster. Build the facility, select it, and assign the intended fighter rather than merely assuming that having the building somewhere in the Ludus provides its recovery effect.
The developer improved Quarters recovery in the September 17 update. The November 2 pre-launch update also changed the construction cost from 25 to 30 coins. Older recordings showing a cheaper building or a particular recovery interval are not a reliable current timetable.
Infirmary treatment is not interchangeable with resting. The September 17 recovery changes state that leaving the Infirmary early restores fatigue to its pre-admission value while injuries are removed according to completed treatment time. A treated injury therefore does not prove that a fighter is fully rested.
Schedule Training Around the Next Arena Date
Start with the match countdown, then inspect the current skill's remaining training time and the fighter's fatigue. If you cannot finish a useful skill and still recover, continuing training may leave you with an incomplete skill and a weaker arena entrant.
A practical routine is:
- Check the next match's date and required lineup.
- Choose training that has a realistic chance of finishing before recovery is needed.
- Inspect fatigue as training progresses.
- Stop and rest before the intended entrant becomes an exhausted emergency choice.
- Recheck injuries and morale separately before selecting the lineup.
Metal Face's demo player experience uses rotation between training and Quarters to keep two main fighters ready. That is a useful planning example, not a fixed schedule that every roster can copy.
Also avoid an outdated Doctore assumption: the October 16 update removed the extra fatigue caused by the training boost. Training and battles still require recovery planning; the boost itself no longer carries that earlier additional fatigue cost.
FAQ
When does fatigue lower arena health?
The demo tutorial described in player experience identifies three or more fatigue as the threshold for reduced arena health.
Can a victory still leave a gladiator injured?
Yes. The August 30 developer update bases arena injury risk on fatigue, with injuries revealed after returning to the Ludus.
Do Quarters and the Infirmary do the same thing?
No. Quarters support fatigue recovery, while the Infirmary treats injuries. Inspect both conditions rather than assuming either facility fixes everything.
Does the Doctore's training boost still add extra fatigue?
The October 16 update says that additional fatigue was removed. Older videos can still show the previous behavior.
