The Infirmary treats injuries that ordinary rest is not meant to handle. Build it when your roster needs medical recovery, then allow treatment time before depending on that fighter in another match. Leaving early can still remove injuries according to time completed, but it does not grant a full stay's result automatically.

Check Injuries After Returning From the Arena

Start with the gladiator's condition rather than buying a room simply because it is available. The official August 30 update says arena injuries are revealed after fighters return to the Ludus.

That makes the post-match inspection important. A win does not mean your chosen fighter should immediately resume training or enter another event without a condition check.

The developer's Dominus Gladiatus updates distinguish injuries from Fatigue and tie arena injury risk to Fatigue. The documented risk increases at three, four, and five Fatigue, so recovery planning before combat helps manage the problem as well as treating it afterward.

Do not interpret that relationship as a claim that every injury in every system has the same cause. Read the actual condition displayed on the affected gladiator.

Build the Infirmary and Assign Treatment

In the collected demo player experience, you access building choices through the Dominus, purchase the Infirmary, wait for construction, and send the injured gladiator into treatment.

Metal Face's run provides a practical example: after a main fighter is injured, the player builds the Infirmary and uses Quarters while waiting for it to finish. The injured fighter is then assigned to the new room.

For your own roster:

  1. Inspect the injury and the next arena schedule.
  2. Check whether another fighter can cover the upcoming position.
  3. Buy the Infirmary if treatment is needed and the budget supports it.
  4. Let construction finish, then assign the injured fighter.
  5. Recheck treatment progress and condition before withdrawing them.

The August 23 update reduced Infirmary costs. Because older recordings show earlier building and usage prices, use the amount displayed in your version instead of treating one video's cost as permanent.

Understand Partial Treatment and Early Departure

The September 17 official update explains what happens when a gladiator leaves the Infirmary before finishing:

  • Injuries are removed according to how much recovery time has been completed.
  • Fatigue returns to its value before admission.

This is the central rule to remember when the next arena date approaches. Partial treatment can have a result, but you should inspect which injuries remain rather than assuming the fighter is completely healed.

It also explains why you should not count an Infirmary stay as interchangeable with a Quarters stay. The early-departure Fatigue behavior is different.

There is no supported universal healing timetable here for every injury. Use the treatment information and remaining time shown for your actual gladiator, then make the lineup decision from that condition.

Keep Injury Treatment Separate From Fatigue Recovery

A fighter may need more than one management decision over time, but buying a room does not solve every condition automatically. Avoid returning a partially treated gladiator to a demanding match solely because the calendar has reached the arena date.

Consider morale as well. The October 16 update reworked the interaction between critical injuries and prolonged low morale. Maximum injuries no longer trigger an immediate suicide event; instead, they increase risk for gladiators already experiencing prolonged low morale. Do not repeat the older instant-event rule or assume medical treatment replaces morale management.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the Infirmary do?

It allows injured gladiators to recover between battles. It serves a different purpose from the Quarters' faster Fatigue recovery.

Can I remove a gladiator before treatment finishes?

The documented early-departure rule removes injuries according to recovery time completed and restores Fatigue to its pre-admission value. Check the remaining injury state before deciding the fighter is ready.

Does a short visit fully heal every injury?

No such rule is established. Recovery depends on treatment time, so use the information shown for the actual gladiator.

Should I buy an Infirmary before every other building?

Not automatically. It addresses injuries. If your roster is uninjured but repeatedly exhausted, Quarters solve a different immediate problem.
